Why the Modura Stepped
Sink Has a Raised Bowl

Color note. This finish is a gunmetal black, not a jet black. The nano coating is thin, so the steel underneath still shows through as a grey undertone in some light. This is normal for the finish and not a defect.

This is our stepped sink, 9 in deep, with a deep main bowl and a smaller raised prep bowl. Available in 32 in and 34 in.

In the UK this shape has a name. They call it a 1.5 bowl and it is the standard kitchen sink there.

The raised bowl is the part no US brand sells. Competitors sell a second bowl, but every one of them is a shelf or a rail inside one bowl.

The step is for the small jobs. Rinse vegetables. Defrost something. Park dirty cutlery while the main bowl is full. Keep the knife that touched raw chicken off the clean plates. Drain a pan without clogging your wash water. There is no divider down the middle, so a sheet pan still lies flat in the deep side.

9 pieces in the box, and 2 of them are not sold in the US at any price. No US sink comes with a knife box, and the one US sink drain basin we found is discontinued. The big brands give just 1 year on a cup rinser or a soap pump.

What is the raised second bowl for?

It is your prep step. Rinse vegetables or defrost up there while the deep main bowl stays free for pots and dishes. Water from the step drains down into the sink, not onto your counter.

How is this different from the waterfall sinks?

No waterfall, no digital display. You get the practical two level layout instead, with the same complete set: pull out faucet, drinking water faucet, cup rinser, and soap dispenser. Pick this one if you want the smart layout without the extra tech.

32 or 34?

Your cabinet decides. The 32 needs a 35 in cabinet or wider, the 34 needs 37 in or wider.
